Realizing an Ecosystem Strategy for a Global CPG Leader

Our client owns successful brands in various categories and countries. In the German market, the demand for identifying synergies between categories has been growing and building a business ecosystem around nutrition emerged as a strong growth opportunity.

Bloom Partners was tasked with co-leading an interdisciplinary team and guiding the identification of a cross-category ecosystem players throughout the entire consumer journey.

The Approach.

The chosen approach aimed to capture cross-category opportunities. Ultimately, our objective was to implement a realistic, fact-driven perspective on growth opportunities and requirements.

1.Value Proposition: We started by aggregating existing ecosystems and identifying common elements within the categories, ultimately defining higher-order objectives and a strong value proposition.

2. Ecosystem Journey: We developed a cross-category consumer journey that spans across all life stages. Leveraging this journey, we pinpointed nutritional change moments and emerging nutritional needs, serving as entry and touch points for the ecosystem and as a foundation for building customer relationships.

3. Opportunity areas: We cross-checked the identified nutritional needs with larger trend clusters, assessing their relevance for each category. Subsequently, we identified opportunity areas with the potential for cross-category growth. We emphasized the significance of forging partnerships with other players, including startups, to leverage synergy effects with internal and external partners.
